Lao president ends fruitful visit to China

Brief:Lao president visits China for strategic cooperation.
Lao and Chinese leaders have confirmed their commitment to develop their strategic cooperative partnership by creating plans agreed on during this week's visit to China by the Lao President.

Laos and China reached consensus on further developing the relationship between the two countries and issued a joint communiqué confirming their commitment to strengthening the bilateral strategic cooperative partnership.
 
According to the joint communiqué, Lao and Chinese leaders were proud to see the progress made in development on a socialist path that is suited to the real situation of each country and its people and the achievements in many fields that this progress has facilitated.
 
Under the joint communiqué China will support Laos in hosting the ninth Asia-Europe Meeting next year and confirmed support for Laos' bid for membership in the World Trade Organisation.
 
The communique stated that China will encourage domestic enterprises to participate in infrastructure development in Laos, in the areas of telecommunications and public works.
 
During the official visit to China, President Choummaly witnessed the signing of nine agreements between the two nations, mainly relating to Party-Party cooperation and exchanges and socio-economic development projects.
 
The two sides also made a commitment in the joint communiqué to maintain regular exchange visits by leaders from the parties and governments of each country in order to share opinions on strategic issues of mutual interest.
