Chinese Investment Creates 10 New Jobs

Brief:Chinese iRes-Geo Technology has opened its first Scottish base creating 10 new jobs for workers in Scotland’s oil and gas sector.

The company, who specialise in geosciences and reservoir technology, aims to capitalise on Scotland’s strengths in the market and boost opportunities in exploration, development and field maturation projects for its North Sea and global business.
 
The new base, at Heriot Watt University’s Research Park, has already created three of the initial jobs within research, development and marketing, with further positions due to open up.
 
Chairman/founder of iRes-Geo Technology Ltd Yi Huang, said: “To date we have created three positions, two of which are high value jobs, and we’re actively recruiting in Scotland to take our total staffing levels to five this year.”
 
Scottish Development International (SDI) worked alongside the firm to offer advice, guidance and support to help to bring the investment to Scotland.
 
David Rennie, international sector head at Scottish Development International said: “Today’s announcement is welcome news for Scotland’s oil and gas sector and reinforces our world-wide reputation as being a global hub for oil and gas activity."
