Bosnia in talks with Chinese investors on Bihac airport construction
2019-07-03
Bosnia is holding talks with potential Chinese investors on their participation in the construction of an airport in the town of Bihac, local media reported on Tuesday.

China is interested in taking part in the construction of the Bihac airport, as well as in other projects in infrastructure and tourism, business news portal eKapija.com quoted China's ambassador to Bosnia, Ji Ping, as saying while visiting Bihac. On Monday, Ping had meetings with the prime minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ruznic and with the Bihac mayor Suhret Fazlic.

Last month, local media reported that the construction of Bosnia's Bihac Airport could be completed in two to four years.

The estimated total investment in the project amounts to some 100 million marka ($57.8 million/51.1 million euro), including all infrastructure works and road connections.

The Una-Sana Canton is one of the ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Federation is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.

This year, some 100,000 guests from China are expected to visit the Una National park and Bihac.
