More than 100 companies are willing to invest in Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the project’s Council Executive Chairman Zhao Guobin said on Saturday.
Addressing a news conference in Gilgit, Zhao said CPEC was the result of time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China. “CPEC is the fruit of friendship and now will strengthen the economies of both the countries.”
Separately, addressing a workshop organised by IRADA, G-B’s Minister for Works Dr Muhammad Iqbal said CPEC’s success would ensure the welfare of the peoples living on either side of the border. CPEC would change the destiny of people living in G-B, he added.
“If only Karakoram Highway built in the 1970s – 80s can bring so much development in the region, imagine the magnitude of progress CPEC will bring in.”
