China-based textile company Jiangsu Dongqun Investment Holding Group Co. Ltd. (Jiangsu Dongqun) has expressed interest in investing US$100 million to build a textile factory in Indonesia, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto says.

The interest was officially registered during a meeting between the minister and the group's management. Regarding the location, Airlangga offered several options such as the Kendal Industrial Park in Central Java.

"The industrial park provides plenty of land and skilled labor," he said after the meeting with Jiangsu Dongqun’s management in Shanghai, China, on Monday.

The minister was in China accompanying President Joko Widodo at the G20 Summit. During a visit to the headquarters of Jiangsu Dongqun, Airlangga introduced members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to the management.

"We also encouraged them to collaborate with local partners," he added.

The government plans to incentivize industry commitment with tax holidays, tax allowances and competitive gas prices to boost the textile industry, Airlangga said.
