Chinese Investment in U.S. Hit New Highs in the First Half of 2016
2016-07-19

Data compiled by American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research show Chinese investment in the U.S. hit nearly 29 billion U.S. dollars through this year's first half.

This is said to have exceeded the amount of capital from Chinese investors to the country during the whole year of 2014.

Most investments took place in the form of acquisition rather than infrastructure building.

It's been noted that Chinese private enterprises have surpassed their state-run counterparts to be the leading investors in the U.S.

Some of the most high-profile investments by private businesses over the past six months included Chinese home appliance maker Haier's 5.4-billion-U.S.-dollar deal to acquire General Electric, and the 250-million-U.S.-dollar land deal between Chinese online streaming site "LeTV" and Yahoo.
