Turkish Energy Minister to Visit China in Appeal for Investment

Brief:Energy Minister Berat Albayrak will visit China to boost bilateral ties and investments on March 22-25. 
 
Albayrak will share Turkey’s new energy targets and projects with high-level Chinese counterparts and elaborate potential cooperation and investment opportunities, according to ministry officials. 
 
C-level representatives of a number of leading Chinese companies across several sectors, from renewable energy to mining and thermal energy, are included in Albayrak’s meeting list. 
 
His China visit will be composed of three sets. He will first visit Beijing and then meet leading wind energy representatives in the Chinese capital, before meeting senior representatives from the Chinese Development Bank and several finance institutions. Albayrak will explain Turkey’s investment climate and call for increased Chinese investment. 
 
Albayrak and China’s National Energy Administration head Nur Bekri will meet in Beijing to discuss new cooperation opportunities in energy. He is also scheduled to meet China’s coal industry giants. 
 
One of the main themes of Albayrak’s visit will be nuclear energy. He is scheduled to visit a third generation nuclear power plant of China’s national nuclear technology company, SNPTC, in the province of Weihai. 
 
His last stop will be Shanghai, where he is scheduled to visit the Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute and then meet representatives from Chinese thermal energy and renewable energy companies.
