Embassy, TPSF exploring training openings in China

Brief:According to IMALA, a research institute, there are almost 500 Chinese enterprises and companies in the country which have invested in different sectors. The enterprises have employed some 150,000 Tanzanians and that, to some extent, goes to combating the unemployment problem in Tanzanian.
 THE Chinese embassy in Tanzania has started talks with the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) to sponsor locals for entrepreneurship training in China.

Chinese Ambassador in Tanzania, Dr Lv Youqing, made the remarks at a special commemoration of Chinese technical and engineering experts who lost their lives while working on the construction of the Tanzania and Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA).

The commemoration took place at the Chinese Experts Cemetery in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Dr Youqing said they had started talks with TPSF about taking some local citizens for entrepreneurship courses with a view to increasing the number of entrepreneurs in the country who would assist to fight poverty.

“The entrepreneurship training will focus on two things -- trade and production areas because in China we are good at those two areas and due to our familiarity with Tanzania we need to share the experience just to eradicate poverty,” he said.

He added that the strong ties existing between the two governments should be preserved due to good collaboration they had in different fields. “The late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere once said that China and Tanzania are great friends.

Even last year China’s President, Mr Xi Jinping, made a visit to Tanzania and said the same,” he said. The ambassador explained that China had collaborative plans with the Tanzanian government to combat poverty which exists at different levels.

“There are two levels of poverty -- national and individual levels. We are cooperating with the Tanzanian government to eliminate the situation,” he said.

He added that there were lots of Chinese enterprises in the country which employed Tanzanians and that, to some extent, solve the unemployment problem.
