Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is continuing his visit to countries in the Gulf. He called the establishment of a strategic partnership with the
UAE, an opportunity to create a broader prospect for the two nations in the expansion of bilateral cooperation. The UAE is now China’s second largest trade partner in the Arab World.
Wen said that through the strategic partnership, he hopes to promote cooperation and humanitarian exchanges, and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between China and the Arab world. China welcomes a stable and prosperous UAE, and supports the country’s efforts in playing a positive role in the region.
Wen also said he hopes that his visit will bring a new chapter to Sino-UAE ties. After the meeting, leaders from the two nations witnessed the signing
of agreements on biltateral cooperation.China is willing to expand cooperation with the UAE in trade and exploration of oil and gas as well as in the field of developing new energy resources, with the aim to establish a long-term, stable and comprehensive energy partnership between the two sides.
For his part, Mohammed echoed Wen’s views on bilateral relations, saying that cooperation between the two sides has greatly boosted economic development in the UAE and brought closer links between the two peoples.
